It is definitely unusual to see 13 truck drivers parking under a bridge and blocking the whole highway in both directions.
Fellow drivers exactly encountered this in Michigan. As if this wasn’t bizarre enough, the reason left onlookers even more stunned.
Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw found himself in a very difficult situation and needed help from the public in the wee hours of the morning.
He got exactly what he needed from a group of great drivers. They lined their trucks under an overpass on Interstate 696 in Detroit, Michigan blocking the traffic and making no mistake.
They were there for an incredible reason. They were there to help save the life of a man. The Detroit police department received a call that a man was threatening to kill himself and jumping off an overpass.
The local law enforcement rushed to the scene to negotiate with him. One of the officers came up with a genius plan to safeguard even if the man wanted to throw himself.
He created a safety net under the underpass with the help of the trucks. They wanted to shorten the distance if the man would fall.
This was a great thing to do. Remember to ask for help through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
The truck drivers stayed there for many hours overnight. When the man was escorted by the police officers to a nearby hospital after the situation was safely defused, everything went back to normality.
There are always people out there who care for you, even when you feel that no one does. All you have to do is ask for help.
