Living on a rural Alberta ranch, Jannet Talbott is always surrounded by animals. One day, she noticed a squirrel at her bird feeder with an overgrown tooth threatening his eye. Naming him Bucky, she realized he struggled to eat and needed help.Seizing an opportunity, she gently caught him and discovered multiple teeth curling into his mouth. Fearing a vet visit would stress him,
she bravely trimmed them herself using cuticle trimmers. With no pain receptors in their teeth, Bucky seemed relieved, rubbing his face in amazement. The next day, he returned with a happy “squirrel smile,” now able to eat properly. Inspired by this experience, Jannet hopes others will step up to help animals in need.
